Summary
This article explains how to successfully move your database from one computer to another, under various conditions.
Tools You Will Need
  • Computer A (computer from which the database will be backed up)
  • Computer B (computer on which the database will be restored)
  • Flash drive
Note Before You Begin
·         The flash drive should be emptied of data before use.
·         You will need to verify that both computers have the same version of the software before going through this document. If you are running two different versions of the software then this database transfer may corrupt your database.
·         Computer A is designated as the computer from which the database will be backed up.
·         Computer B is designated as the computer on which the database will be restored.
·         You should backup your database to your desktop or other easily located destination before beginning the database transfer process in case of data corruption.

Step-by-Step: Exporting database off of Computer B (New) before backing up on Computer A (Old)
If you have not recorded exams on Computer B (new), skip to the next section on page 5.
Before you begin the import/export process, back up your databases on both computers in case of data corruption.

1. Insert the flash drive into a USB port into Computer B (New).

9. Click “OK,” close all windows and programs, and remove the flash drive. (Recommended: Wait a few minutes after the transfer of the database has completed before removing the flash drive. Then choose to “Safely Remove Hardware” by right-clicking the flash drive icon on the bottom-right corner of your menu bar. This will help to ensure that the computer and the flash drive have completely finished communicating with each other before removal, which helps protect your data from corruption.)
