Summary
If your computer has multiple users who have separate usernames and passwords, the SQL Server 80004005 error may appear because the current user does not have administrative rights to the SQL server.  This article will show you how to grant administrator permissions on the SQL server for all of your MyoVision users.
Tools You Will Need
  • Administrative access on your computer so you can download a new program
  • Your computer
  • Internet connection
Note Before You Begin
·         In order to download files on your computer, you will need administrator access. If you do not know if you have administrator access, follow the steps listed on this site: http://oit.ncsu.edu/antivirus/administrator-account.
·         Close all programs and windows before beginning, including error messages and other dialogue boxes. Your computer should be in a neutral state.

Step-by-Step
1. Download Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c243a5ae-4bd1-4e3d-94b8-5a0f62bf7796. Pay attention to whether you have a 64 bit machine or a 32 bit machine. This will change which item you should download.

2. Run the installation wizard for the download by clicking next, until the program confirms that the installation has been successful.

3. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express.

4. The login window will look something like this:

“Server Name” will automatically be filled in based on information from your computer. There is no need to change anything on this screen, even if it differs from the image above. Click the “Connect” button.

5. You will be at a window with a list of files running down the left-hand side. Locate the second folder from the top says “Security.”

6. Expand this list of folders by clicking on the plus sign next to “Security.”

7. Locate and expand the “Logins” folder.

8. Locate and double-click the file labeled “BUILTIN\Users” to open the file.

9. A new window similar to the following image will appear:

Click on “Server Roles,” which will be the second item in the list on the left-hand side.

10. The center screen will change. In the center of the window will be a list of titles to choose from. See below:

Locate “sysadmin,” which will be at the bottom of the list. Select “sysadmin” by checking the box.  (Note: Do not un-check boxes that have automatically been selected. Leave them alone and check with your office technical support administrator before changing the pre-existing settings.)

11. Click “OK.”

12. Close all windows and programs, and restart your computer.

13. Open the MyoVision software. Your problem should be resolved.
