Binding Devices to the PhysioMonitor

Table of Contents

Summary

This document has been taken (and then expanded) from the MyoVision User Manual which is located in your software. To access the full MyoVision User Manual go to the “Help” drop-down menu and choose “MyoVision User Manual.”

**Please note that you may need to move your PhysioMonitor away from your Screen/TV/Monitor, as the electrical noise can interfere with device binding.**

Before you Begin

The PhysioMonitor will need to be plugged into the computer and the wall. The PhysioMonitor should have a green "Computer Connect" light and a green "Power" light. Some of the Active Devices should also show green. If  your "Power" or "Computer Connect" light is not green, check the PhysioMonitor's connection with the computer (try a different USB port) and the connection to the wall Power Outlet.

With the PhysioMonitor powered on and connected to the computer, turn on the devices that are to be bound by toggling their power switches. Test that they are on by pressing their respective "Start" buttons and that lights are coming on.

Do you have a single ScanVision scanner or a set of two ScanVision scanners?
The software must be configured for either single ScanVision mode or dual ScanVision mode. To access this setting:

  1. Open the Setup menu, go down to Settings, and select Devices.
  2. Select ScanVision.

  3. If you are using a single ScanVision scanner, make sure the "Enable" box shown below is checked. If you are using a set of two ScanVision scanners, make sure the "Enable" box shown below is not checked. Left-click the check box to add or remove the check mark. Click OK when you're done.

Prepare MyoVision Software

Open the MyoVision software and go to the Help  menu and click on Bind Devices. This will display the connection status and battery life of your devices.

**Most devices will have the Select Switch covered with a black sticker and already be properly set to the correct mode. If the devices still have their black sticker attempt to bind them before changing the Select Switch.**

If you have two ScanVision scanners, the software should appear with the left and right devices visible in the "Bind Window". (See the image below for an example.)

If you have one ScanVision scanner, the software should appear with only the left device visible in the "Bind Window". (See the image below for an example.)

To change this setting between the single and dual scanner mode.

Setting the Select Switch

Prior to binding ScanVision and FlexVision devices, ensure that the Select Switch on each device is set correctly.  The Select Switch has two settings: “Main” (the device intended for the left, indicated by a yellow sticker) and "Aux" (intended for the right). Main devices (ScanVision or FlexVision) are already labeled, when purchased from MyoVision, with a yellow sticker for your convenience.

Note: If neither of your devices has a yellow sticker, simply pick one to be the “Main”(left) and “Aux” (right) device. But make sure there’s a signifier on the device, so that you do not mix up which one is the left or right device.

Critical: For two devices in a pair, you must set the Select Switch in opposite directions (one main/left and one aux/right). If both of the devices are set to the same direction (ie. both are left) you will not be able to initiate the scan as the system will not recognize the right device.

ScanVision

For ScanVision Devices:

  1. The “SELECT SWITCH” is located on the left side of the scanner (when the electrodes are pointing up) in between the power indicator light and the “POWER” switch.
  2. Hold the scanner with the yellow sticker. Toggle the “SELECT SWITCH” towards the electrodes. This will designate the scanner as “Main” or left. This is the up position. If necessary, use a paperclip or pen to assist toggling.
  3. Hold the scanner without the yellow sticker. Toggle the “SELECT SWITCH” away from the electrodes.
  4. This will designate the scanner as “Aux” or right. This is the down position. If necessary, use a paperclip or pen to assist toggling.
  5. Turn the devices off and then back on by using the “POWER” switch at the bottom of the device, notated by the arrow.

For FlexVision Devices

  • Hold the FlexVision so that the “POWER” switch is facing you, shown here in the left picture. Now turn the device so you are looking at the back, shown here in the right picture. The “SELECT SWITCH” is located on the bottom left side, when looking at the back.
  • Hold the FlexVision with the yellow sticker. Toggle the “SELECT SWITCHtowards the top of the circle. This will designate the scanner as “Main” or left. This is the up position. If necessary, use a paperclip or pen to assist toggling.
  • Hold the FlexVision without the yellow sticker. Toggle the “SELECT SWITCH” away from the top of the circle. This will designate the scanner as “Aux” or right. This is the down position. If necessary, use a paperclip or pen to assist toggling.
  • Turn the devices off and then back on by using the “POWER” switch.

Please note that when you receive the units from MyoVision the Select Switches will be covered by a black sticker. If you have to check the orientation of the Select Switches you can remove the sticker. However, we recommend that once your devices are successfully bound, that the stickers covering the Select Switches are replaced. This will mitigate any confusing between the Select Switch and the Power Switch and minimize unintended switching of device orientation that could lead to binding issues.

Bind Devices to Software

A this point we are going to finish prepping your devices and then bind them inside of the software.

Press the Start buttons on the devices in your hand (make sure you have toggled the power switched to the “On” position) they should light up with 1 green light, and 1 blinking red light. The green light should be the “Power” light. If it is red, then you will need to put new batteries into the device, or charge the device. The blinking red light should be the “Connect Status” light.

Note: The green light should be the “Power” light.( If it is red, then you will need to put new batteries into the device.) The blinking red light should be the “Connect Status” light.

***The next few steps are time sensitive. Read through the next steps before you proceed. Once you push the connect switch button on the device you will only have a few seconds to press the bind button on the SoloVision.***

Locate the button labeled "Connect Switch" on the device:

ScanVision - The "Connect Switch" is located to the right of the start button.

FlexVision - The "Connect Switch" is located at the top of the dome

ThermoVision - The "Connect Switch" is located on the base.

DynaVision - The "Connect Switch" is located on the top

***The next step is time sensitive. Read through the next steps before you proceed. Once you push the connect switch button on the device you will only have a few seconds to press the bind button on the SoloVision.***

Using a straightened paper clip or push pin, push and hold the recessed “Connect Switch” button on the handheld unit until the red light goes from a blinking red, to a solid red.

Note: If there is a second device, finish the binding process for each unit before proceeding to the next.

When the binding successful, the "Connect Status" LED on the handheld unit should turn green. The "Link" bar should also change from a red bar to a green bar.

Repeat these steps for all devices.

Reminders

Note: The timing of the binding process is crucial. If the handheld device goes back to a blinking red before you hit the “Bind” button you will need to try again. Sometimes, it takes a few tries to get the timing just right to bind the devices.

If you need further assistance please email support@myovision.com with your contact information and a few sentences describing the issue. You can also call 1-800-969-6961, option 2 for Technical Support.

Are your devices both showing up green in your handheld device, but one is not appearing bound on the screen? Read the Section "Setting the Select Switch" and check the "Select Switch" direction of your device. They cannot be set in the same position.
